Casablanca

So on Labor Day Mike and I went to Ann Arbor, Michigan to do some shopping and see the town.  It is pretty gorgeous! We drove downtown through the University of Michigan campus, which is ginormous, with awesome old stone buildings.  Mike and I had been talking about how neither of us had ever seen Casablanca, when, BAM, he found that it was playing in a theater in Ann Arbor.  How perfect! They were doing a special showing at the Michigan Theater, right in downtown. We walked in and were so surprised.  Instead of a normal movie theater, it was a beautiful, gilded, wonderful old theater.  This is the ceiling:
Crazy right?!? Here are a couple more pics:
If you look closely in the pic with the stage and screen, you'll see that there is an organist! He was playing music from Casablanca while we waited for it to start, and then he and the organ lowered into the pit as the lights went down.  It was great! Also, we both totally loved Casablanca and think that, barring a few super cheesy moments, it has stood up well to the test of time.  I can't wait for another date night to this theater!
